From the 2011/2012 season onwards, Tomasz Wija will join the ensemble of Staatstheater Kassel, Germany, where his repertoire will include parts by composers including Britten, Handel, Mozart, Puccini and Shostakovich.
During the 2009/2010 season, bass-baritone Tomasz Wija made his debut at Berlin’s State Opera and he sang Kreon and Messeger in Stravinsky‘s Oedipus Rex in Berlin and Dresden. Earlier, he made his debut with Hiller‘s Das Traumfresserchen at Deutsche Oper Berlin, where he performed in Amaya’s world premiere Le Leyenda de Mariola. In 2006, he took part at Bad Wildbad’s Belcanto Festival, Germany, singing Mosè in Rossini’s Mosè in Egito as well as Norton in Rossini’s La cambiale di matrimonio. At the Eutin Festival 2009, he sang Baron Grog in Offenbach‘s Die Großherzogin von Gerolstein.
Tomasz Wija is a busy concert artist and reguarly sings Bach‘s Christmas Oratorio as well as his St. John Passion, he performed Handel’s Utrecht Te Detum as well as Chandos Anthem N° 9, accompanied by Cammermusik Potsdam. In 2007, he sang Kurt Fibich‘s Markus-Passion and in 2008 Brahms‘ Vier ernste Gesänge at Konzerthaus Berlin.
In 2010 and 2011, Tomasz Wija gave lied recitals in Berlin, Bonn, Dortmund, Hamburg, Médoc, at de Singel in Antverp and in der Zurich’s Tonhalle.
