David Roy made his debut at the Rossini Opera Festival Pesaro in 2022, singing Don Alvaro in Rossini’s Il viaggio a Reims. The same year, the baritone has sung Figaro in Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia at the Polish Royal Opera in Warsaw and earlier, in 2018, at Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz.
In 2021, David Roy was awarded First Prize at Bogdan Paprocki’s Polish National Vocal Competition in Bydgoszcz, Second Prize at The Ada Sari International Vocal Artistry Competition (the First Prize was not awarded) in Poland, and First Prize at the 21st Imrich Godin International Vocal Competition IUVENTUS CANTI 2019 in Slovakia. In 2019, he won Second Prize at the 3rd International Vocal Competition of Sacred Music Ars et Gloria in Katowice and First Prize and Grand Prix at the 2nd International Talsi Children and Youth Academic Singing and Vocal Ensemble Competition in 2017.
David Roy gained first stage experience at the Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz, making his debut in February 2019 as Belcore in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore, after celebrating his first success there the previous year as Figaro in Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia. This was followed by appearances as Conte Almaviva in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro in February and May 2021 and Sord Bearer in Moniuszko’s The Haunted Manor in May 2022.
He is currently studying roles such as Escamillo in Bizet’s Carmen, Onegin in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin and Rodrigo in Verdi’s Don Carlo.
