Georgina Fürstenberg made her debut at Opernhaus Zürich in the Swiss premiere of Kats-Chernin‘s Jim Knopf und Lukas der Lokomotivführer during the 2023/24 season. In 2024, she created the part of Wendy in the world premiere of Schwemmer/Frowin’s Peter Pan at Philharmonie Luxembourg. The coloratura soprano made her firs appearance at Deutsche Oper Berlin in November 2021 singing Blonde in Mozart’s Die Entführung aus dem Serail – and returned for Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte and Verdi’s Don Carlo.
In 2021 she returned to Bayerische Staatsoper, where she first appeared in 2020, and has sung Euridice in Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice at the International Gluck Festival in 2021. In 2022, she made her debut at KlangVokal Musikfestival Dortmund and was covering Morgana in a new production of Handel’s Alcina at the Glyndebourne Festival Opera. At Komische Oper Berlin, Georgina Fürstenberg performed La Princesse, Le Feu and Le Rossignol in Ravel‘s L’Enfant et les sortilèges and created the role of Jim Knopf in the world premiere of Kats-Chernin‘s Jim Knopf und Lukas der Lokomotivführer.
Georgina Fürstenberg made her debut at Semperoper Dresden in Korngold’s Die tote Stadt under the baton of Dmitri Jurowski in 2019 and will return for a new production of Prokofiev’s The Love for Three Oranges in 2024. Her operatic repertoire includes Jonathas in Charpentier’s David et Jonathas, Handel’s Morgana in Alcina and Asteria in Tamerlano, La Fée in Massenet’s Cendrillon, Euridice in Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo, Mozart’s Mme Silberklang in Der Schauspieldirektor and Blonde in Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Le Feu in Ravel’s L’enfant et les sortilèges. The Barbadian soprano worked with directors including Robert Carsen, Christian von Götz, Stefan Herheim, Barrie Kosky and Leonard Prinsloo.
As a concert soloist, Georgina Fürstenberg performed Bach’s St John Passion, Barber’s Four Songs, Delibes‘ Les Filles de Cadix, Fauré‘s Requiem, Graun’s Weihnachtsoratorium, Handel’s The Messiah, Haydn’s The Battle of the Nile, Mozart’s Exsultate, jubilate and Laudate Dominum, Orff’s Carmina Burana, Rimsky-Korskov’s The Rose and the Nightingale, Strauß’ Frühlingsstimmen-Walzer and Zimmlinsky’s Walzer-Gesänge. Holder of a British passport, she has worked with conductors including Bertrand de Billy, Daniel Carter, Jonathan Cohen, Michael Hofstetter, Konrad Junghänel, Dmitri Jurowski, Ivan Repušić, Ainārs Rubiķis, Jordan de Souza, and Mario Venzago – and with orchestras such as Bayerisches Staatsorchester, Dortmunder Philharmoniker, Händelfestspielorchester Halle, Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden, Philharmonia Zürich.
